  • Tourism boosts Delaware's economy as more visitors fill highways and cause bumper-to-bumper traffic during summer months. The state tourism office is tracking the trend to promote local attractions and manage the increased flow.  Bay to Bay News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Delaware residents can recycle Christmas trees after the holidays as DNREC offers a free tree-shredding event at the Delaware Center for Horticulture’s parking lot in Wilmington on Jan. 10 (or contact their waste hauler for curb-side pickup).  Delaware Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware will provide $20 Lyft and Uber vouchers on New Year's Eve to prevent impaired driving—vouchers start at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31, activate at 5 p.m. until 3 a.m. on Jan. 1, with extra ones added at 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.  Delaware Online
  • Animal rights group PETA sent a proposal letter to Delaware lawmakers today asking dog guardians to walk their pets three times daily, including one hour-long walk, to boost physical and mental health (a rule that local dog owners view with caution, particularly regarding scheduling and weather challenges).  WHYY
