- ➤ Habitat for Humanity CEO Kevin L. Smith told Rotary members yesterday at the Hotel du Pont that Delaware needs 20,000 extra affordable homes due to zoning barriers and regulatory delays. - ➤ The Redding Consortium for Educational Equity will meet Dec. 16 at Delaware Tech to choose among three new school district models for Wilmington schools, with proposals affecting 2,730 students (pre-K to 12) and facing strong opposition from community members and school board officials concerned about transparency and diversity. - ➤ UD's board named Laura Carlson as president Tuesday, ending her interim status after nearly six months & tasking her with mending faculty ties and adjusting spending amid drops in federal research funding. - ➤ Attorney General Kathy Jennings urges consumers to check if they qualify for refunds from a $700 million Google settlement alleging anticompetitive practices. The settlement covers Google Play Store purchases from Aug. 2016 to Sept. 2023 and will send payments automatically via PayPal or Venmo after court approval on April 30. WDEL
- ➤ Capitol Police are expanding the Facility Dog Program to bring emotional support to Delaware courthouses. Starting with Delaware’s first facility dog — Vinn — the program will serve individuals at the Leonard L. - ➤ Delaware law allows neighbors to film open areas like front yards and sidewalks, but cameras aimed at private spaces (such as windows or enclosed porches) may breach privacy rights. Legal experts say intentional targeting of backyards or living areas could lead to civil claims. Delaware Online
