  • During the holiday season, neighbors are parking in front of homes for gatherings, and in Delaware such parking is legal on public streets (except near driveways, sidewalks, or hydrants); homeowners are advised to talk and set parking times if disputes arise.  Delaware Online
  • Wilmington Airport is set for a 20% rise in holiday traffic today as officials expect busy travel. Travelers are advised to arrive two hours early — and check flight statuses since Avelo Airlines will add nonstop service to Chicago beginning March 12 and Atlanta from Feb. 12.  Delaware Online

CULTURE NEWS

  • The News Journal archives feature excerpts from Dec. 14-20 that spotlight a 1925 teen hero who saved her aunt from a fire, a 1985 dispute over TV call letters, and a 2000 law ending long-time student busing for racial balance in local schools.  Delaware Online
  • Serafin Ensemble connected audiences, students and local arts partners through a season of chamber music performances across Delaware and the Brandywine Valley this fall. They will celebrate Beethoven’s 255th birthday on Dec. 16 and offer more concerts into June to engage listeners with new and classic works.  Delaware Online
  • WorldAtlas has named Lewes as one of seven overlooked Atlantic Coast towns praised for its quiet, family-friendly charm. The list spotlights local attractions (including Cape Henlopen State Park and the Historic Lewes Farmers Market) and highlights the town's rich history.  Delaware Online
  • Delaware Park Casino is lighting up the holidays with its Festival of Lights, featuring a free light display + holiday market and private photo sessions with Santa on Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. until Dec. 20 in Wilmington.  Delaware Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware Gov. Matt Meyer joined six state leaders in urging the EPA to add microplastics to its Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule — the petition aims to improve testing of public drinking water before a planned update will add 30 contaminants by 2027.  WHYY

  • The Blue Hens will play the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns in the 68 Ventures Bowl on Dec. 17 at 8:30 p.m. ET in Mobile, Alabama. Fans may buy tickets online & follow team events on the Blue Hens website.  University of Delaware
