COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On November 24, 2025, New Castle County EMS members met at Emmanuel Dining Room in Wilmington to pack meal bags for over 200 local families ahead of Thanksgiving. They used food from the New Castle County Department of Public Safety’s Turkeython—marking the event’s 24th year.  WDEL
  • The Wilmington train station was busy yesterday—Amtrak reported a nearly 7% increase from last Thanksgiving and shifts in air travel led more riders to choose the train. ILG is beginning its holiday season—travelers are advised to arrive two hours early for security screening and parking to ease their journey.  WDEL

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An eight-inch cast iron pipe fractured Tuesday, November 25 in Milltown when water flooded the intersection of Kirkwood Highway and Milltown Road—forcing DelDOT to close the westbound lanes and impose lane restrictions.  WDEL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Wilmington residents welcomed the holiday season with Blitzen reopening on November 20th at 220 W. 9th St — a festive pop-up bar featuring lights, trees and reindeer-themed décor. Organizers encourage families to continue the tradition by attending the Wilmington Jaycees parade on November 29th before stopping for evening drinks at Blitzen.  Delaware LIVE
  • The historic Hagley Museum will host its annual gingerbread contest starting November 28 to January 1, 2026, where local bakers display themed creations and visitors vote for their favorites before December 24. Holiday Nights tours run on December 9, 11, 16 and 18, offering candlelit rooms and festive decorations—prizes include Amazon gift cards and Hagley memberships—adding extra charm to the season.  Delaware LIVE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Households can save up to $3,200 with the federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit if they complete upgrades like new windows or insulation by Dec. 31. Experts noted the credit saved more than $205 million last tax year in PA, Delaware, and NJ—and urged homeowners to act quickly as rising energy costs persist.  WHYY
  • Delaware’s transit agency DART cut or eliminated service on 15 bus routes last week due to rising costs and low ridership—workers have seen fewer bus options for trips to work and school. DART added Sunday trips for eight routes and will add a direct bus route between Seaford and Dover while planning more stops on route 307, and the public can still share comments on future changes.  Spotlight Delaware
  • Wilmington Airport is completing a $9.8 million terminal expansion that adds 6,000 square feet for a new boarding gate and TSA PreCheck lane while adjusting curbside and parking areas to serve over 155,000 Thanksgiving travelers this week—ensuring a hometown, hassle-free experience.  Delaware LIVE

  • DPH Clinics now offer routine vaccines—including shots for the flu, RSV, pneumonia, and COVID-19—for Delawareans six months and older as flu season begins.  Deleware State Government
  • Nemours Children’s Hospital invites the community to donate new toys and money at its Holiday Joy Drive, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Dec. 6—an anonymous donor will match every dollar given up to $20,000—supporting Child Life programs for young patients.  Delaware LIVE

  • This holiday season, millions of Christmas lights will shine at places in Delaware such as Longwood Gardens near Kennett Square, Dover Motor Speedway, and Schellville in Rehoboth Beach—each offering a fun light show until early January.
