COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Faithful Friends Animal Society is offering short-term fosters for Thanksgiving and waiving fees for adopting senior pets—this program gives families a chance to try a pet sleepover while providing older animals a safe home.  Delaware Online

HEALTH NEWS

  • ChristianaCare will bring full cancer care services to Middletown Health Center (expected to open in May) with advanced radiation therapy, infusions, and consultations with oncologists and surgeons, plus support care and clinical trials. The center is under construction and will help more local patients receive high-quality treatment.  WDEL
  • UD-affiliated epidemiology professor Matthew Loiacono said a large international study called FLUNITY-HD—comparing high-dose to standard-dose flu shots in nearly 466,000 older adults over three flu seasons—found the high-dose shot lowered hospital visits. He added that the study strengthens ties between colleges and drug makers and may lead to more research for high-risk groups such as those with heart or kidney issues.  University of Delaware

  • Desai Drummond was named Delaware Online Football Athlete of the Week for Nov. 14-15 after he passed for 293 yards, scored two touchdowns, and ran for a score in Appoquinimink's 28-21 win over Caravel in the DIAA Class 3A quarterfinals — he won an online vote over four nominees. Delaware Online will begin voting on the next group of nominees on Nov. 24 and announce the new winner on Nov. 28.  Delaware Online
  • The Middletown Cavaliers beat Appoquinimink 28-20 in the DIAA Class 3A football semis—setting up a rematch with Salesianum where they will defend their title.  Delaware Online
  • Watch Em Win won a $110,000 DSBF Final with a record tying time of 1:51.2 on Thursday at Bally's Dover — it completed a series sweep.  Deleware State Government
  • Goldey-Beacom College announced it will launch a women’s flag football program in fall 2026 with tryouts beginning next year. Tim Griffiths was named the first coach—he will build the team as the college becomes one of the region’s first varsity programs in the sport.  Delaware LIVE
