- ➤ Wilmington's Sunday Breakfast Mission has launched a Turkey Challenge to help feed the homeless and hungry families by collecting about 1,800 turkeys—groups are asked to donate at least 25 turkeys and receive a special Turkey Challenge T-shirt. The mission has partnered with WSFS Bank for the Great Thanksgiving Food Drive and will benefit from WDEL's Feed-a-Friend fundraiser on November 20th. WDEL
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Avelo Airlines announced it will add two routes from Wilmington Airport to Atlanta and Chicago in 2026. The Atlanta route will begin Feb 12th, 2026 with five weekly flights and the Chicago route will start March 12th, 2026 with four weekly flights — increasing the airport's nonstop services to 14 and adding a new Boeing 737. - ➤ Delaware grocery stores will have shortened hours on Thanksgiving, Nov. 27, with Acme closing at 4 p.m., Food Lion at 3 p.m., Giant at 5 p.m., ShopRite at 4 p.m., Sprouts at 2 p.m., and Wegmans at 4 p.m. + Major stores like Target, Walmart, Aldi, and Lidl will be closed and alcohol sales will not be allowed, so shoppers should plan ahead. - ➤ Delaware stores are running early *Black Friday* deals now and many will launch additional offers before *Nov. 28* as discount events continue through Dec. 1. Shoppers should check store schedules for details. Delaware Online

- ➤ Five University of Delaware professors were named to the 2025 Highly Cited Researchers list on November 12th by Clarivate—an honor that ranks their work among the top 1% of global publications. Their research spans areas like engineering, management, and computer science, showing UD's strong role in advancing innovative study. University of Delaware

- ➤ DNREC launched a new online survey to gather Delaware residents' feedback about local air quality and identify key air pollution concerns. The survey, which takes about five minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish—Haitian Creole, will remain open through Monday, Dec. 15. Deleware State Government

- ➤ DelDOT announced that drivers on I-95 near the I-495 split south of Wilmington must choose their lane earlier this weekend as the work shifts to the two center lanes—by Sunday morning, traffic will decide at the 141 overpass and Route 141 drivers will face a detour. WDEL
- ➤ Governor Matt Meyer and the Delaware Division of Small Business announced EDGE 2.0 winners who received $1.15M in grants to boost small business growth. Seven companies in the Entrepreneur and STEM tracks were honored at a Wednesday ceremony at the STAR Campus—supporting expansion and job creation in Delaware. Deleware State Government

- ➤ Gov. Matt Meyer said Delaware applied for up to $1B in federal funds to boost rural health care in Kent and Sussex counties under the Rural Health Transformation Program — the state aims to build a new medical school, two Hope Centers and upgrade hospital technology while expecting a decision by Dec. 31.
