COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Frank (Fresh) Coverdale, Food Bank of Delaware's longest-serving worker, explained his strong support for the Philadelphia Eagles and discussed how local fans add meaning to his work.  Delaware Online
  • Frank Coverdale has worked at the Food Bank of Delaware for 22 years—he remains dedicated to feeding local families one family at a time.  Delaware Online
  • Delaware Hospice will host its 38th Festival of Trees to support hospice care—Wilmington will feature the event Nov. 14–16 at Brantwyn Estate and Milford will hold it Nov. 21–23. Guests can enjoy themed tree displays, live music, and a holiday marketplace while helping fund essential services.  Delaware Online

CULTURE NEWS

  • Holiday parades will take place across Delaware with Thanksgiving events on November 27 and local Christmas parades from November 29 through December, including Wilmington’s 61st Jaycees Christmas Parade starting at 11 a.m.—other parades are also planned in Rehoboth Beach, Millsboro, Georgetown, and beyond.  Delaware Online

  • Former Du Pont Hotel executive pastry chef Michele Mitchell, who worked for almost 20 years, showcased her reimagined desserts at Janssen's Market pastry/baking shop in Greenville on Oct. 29—offering treats such as raspberry frangipane tortes, key lime tarts and small fruit tarts to local customers.  Delaware Online

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Realtor.com data showed that the median home price in New Castle County dropped to $330,000 in August from $370,000 in July, a 10.8% decline. The report explained that single-family homes fell 12.7% from $431,500 in July to $376,900 in August — marking a notable drop from the previous figures.  Delaware Online

SPORTS NEWS

  • Race fans at Georgetown Speedway will see the return of the Super DIRTcar Series in 2026—this follows the Delaware Diamond 75 on Nov. 1 that ended a 17-year absence from clay oval racing. The event is set to mark a significant return to competitive racing at the track.  Bay to Bay News
  • Middletown was named the top seed in Class 3A after outscoring Smyrna, while Indian River and Brandywine earned top seeds in Class 2A and 1A, setting up their championship tournament bids. The football tournaments will begin on November 14 and continue over the coming weeks & the state finals are scheduled at Delaware State University on Thanksgiving Weekend.  WDEL
  • Voting for Delaware Online High School Sports Athlete of the Week is open as fans choose the best high school sport performance in week 10—voting is free and the winner will be announced on Nov. 14.  Delaware Online
  • Voters in Delaware high school football will cast free votes for the best cheerleading squad until midnight Nov. 13 (with the overall champion to be announced Nov. 14).  Delaware Online
