- ➤ In a Good Morning Delaware segment, hosts Ivan Thomas and Vincenza Carrieri-Russo interviewed Food Bank of Delaware CEO Cathy Kanefsky, who said the federal government shutdown has cut SNAP benefits — leaving thousands of families without food support. Kanefsky added that the food bank and volunteers are providing emergency aid, community donations and programs like Stuff the Bus to help families in need. DETV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Georgetown ASPIRA bilingual charter school delays its opening to fall 2027 after school leaders face setbacks with funding and finding a temporary building. The school will be housed in the Isaac and Sons cold storage building on Depot St.—renovations will take about 18 months. Spotlight Delaware
- ➤ Delaware students can apply for tuition-free charter schools by first registering at their local public school and then submitting the Delaware Standard Application for Educational Options online between November 3 and January 14—if applications exceed available spots, a lottery will be held by mid-February and final decisions are made by March 20—preferences such as sibling or location may boost a student's chance in the lottery.
