- ➤ Yesterday, Billie Eilish performed to a sold-out crowd at Xfinity Mobile Arena—local theater fans also began enjoying The Girls of Summer event at Delaware Theatre Company at 200 Water St, which runs through Sunday with tickets starting at $34. This weekend, the Sixers will open their season on Saturday against the Charlotte Hornets while a Day of the Dead celebration at FDR Park features traditional music and art installations. WHYY

- ➤ A $1 million Powerball ticket sold in Delaware won when the drawing on Oct. 22 produced winning numbers 18—37—52—54—60 and a Powerball of 12. With no grand prize winner, the jackpot rose to $344 million and the next drawing is set for Oct. 25 at 10:59 p.m. Delaware Online

- ➤ Wilmington — The Delaware Department of Labor’s Division of Paid Leave announced that during the program’s first year, penalties and interest will be waived on all late quarterly submissions as businesses adjust to new reporting deadlines. Employers must file Hours & Wage reports quarterly, and fines will begin if late submissions are not made by March 31. Deleware State Government
- ➤ Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro announced today that workers’ comp insurance rates will decrease for the ninth year in a row effective December 1—voluntary market loss costs will drop 11.6% and residual market rates will fall 9.08%. Deleware State Government
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The University of Delaware received $6 million from the NIH to renew its Center of Biomedical Research Excellence on Discovery of Chemical Probes and Therapeutic Leads—this funding will support research into new molecules to treat disease and help early career faculty build their work with advanced lab equipment. - ➤ Kelvin Lee’s team at the University of Delaware has been awarded $10.5 million from the Gates Grand Challenges Program to lower the cost of making monoclonal antibodies that treat diseases such as malaria—partners will test new methods over the next three years. University of Delaware
- ➤ The National Institutes of Health renewed its support for Delaware INBRE on Oct. 13 by providing $31.3 million over five years to fund research and give more than 1,000 undergrads hands-on lab experience. The funds will boost work in five local institutions — UD, DSU, ChristianaCare, Delaware Technical Community College and Nemours Children's Health. University of Delaware
