- ➤ Delaware State University and End Community Violence Now hosted an inaugural summit on Oct. 14 where experts spoke on crime prevention plus community members shared ideas to reduce violence. The event led to discussions that may shape future safety measures. Bay to Bay News
- ➤ New Castle County Division of Police will host the Sleep Under the Stars event at Carousel Park & Equestrian Center on October 18 with gates opening at 12:00 p.m. and activities starting at 2:00 p.m.+ Families must follow park rules such as no pets, alcohol, smoking, weapons or drones and bring warm layers and flashlights to stay safe+. - ➤ PAL of Delaware, which runs youth programs for local children, faces a criminal investigation and a costly audit that may force it to repay up to $700,000—county police now oversee operations amid cash-flow issues. Spotlight Delaware

- ➤ UD has opened a new Office of National Fellowships in Hullihen Hall room 207 to help students apply for national awards. The office offers advising, essay feedback, and mock interviews to boost success with fellowships such as Gilman, Truman, and Fulbright—students can get support by emailing or visiting the office. - ➤ Governor Matt Meyer joined 14 other governors yesterday to launch the bipartisan Governors Public Health Alliance—this new coalition will help states share data and coordinate emergency response for better public health preparedness. WITN
- ➤ Secretary of Transportation Shanté Hastings toured pedestrian improvements on Kenton Road in Dover to mark National Pedestrian Safety Awareness Month—she made the visit amid efforts to boost road safety after 20 pedestrian fatalities were recorded so far this year. Deleware State Government
- ➤ Housing advocates say the task force did not fix the homeless crisis as few shelter beds force many to sleep outside, while officials plan to allow a temporary tent village in one park and ban all other camps + critics argue the plan only hides the issue instead of solving it. - ➤ Members of the Diamond State Hospital Cost Review Board voted Tuesday to pause meetings as the state and ChristianaCare negotiate a lawsuit settlement— the board will only resume if legislators act and further developments occur, and if no amendments pass by Jan. 31, the lawsuit will continue.
