On Oct. 11, Wilmington Porchfest brought hundreds to streets in Trolley Square and Cool Springs with 12 porches hosting 44 music acts despite a light drizzle—organizer Pete Romano planned the event for six months.

Residents like volunteer Melanie Watt and local artist Grace Vonderkuhn, who performed at 1:30 p.m. on Rodney Street, added to the lively neighborhood celebration.

On Saturday, a group gathered at Vernon Park to process their grief through storytelling, art, and group rituals as organized by Salt Trails Philly — participants wrote their feelings on sticky notes that were later burned to symbolize shared healing.

This event offered a space for people to express and validate their natural emotions in a public setting.

UrbanPromise Wilmington provided free afterschool camps+ where kids and teens grew through mentorship and educational programs on Saturday evening.

The nonprofit also employed older teens as mentors+ to help build character and leadership skills.

This fall, southern Delaware offers a display of appealing insects and spiders — including the common buckeye, variegated fritillary, and marbled orbweaver — that visitors can see as they emerge in September.

A strong nor'easter is hitting Delaware today and will bring steady rain, high winds and rising water levels to coastal areas.

Officials have issued a coastal flood warning for Kent and Sussex counties from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and for New Castle from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.—with wind gusts up to 60 mph and seas expected to rise above 15 feet.

State officials said Crisis Intervention Services in Delaware lack enough staff and will soon begin hiring to address the gap—efforts to improve service response are underway.
