  • Aubrey Plaza was celebrated on The Drew Barrymore Show on Oct 10 for being named Most Famous Delawarean after local Valerie Bertinelli surprised her with a sash and a box of Grotto Pizza — she joked about beating President Biden in the poll and declared she will reign as queen of Delaware forever.  Delaware Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gov. Matt Meyer and Secretary of Education Cindy Marten announced a statewide initiative — the Early Literacy Plan — that will help every public school student read on grade level by third grade.  Delaware Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Delaware Emergency Management Agency has issued a Coastal Flood, Storm and High Wind Watch from Sunday through Monday as an intensifying coastal storm will bring heavy rain, coastal and urban flooding, wind gusts up to nearly 60 mph, and dangerous marine conditions. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, prepare emergency kits, and follow updates from local officials and the National Weather Service—measures designed to help keep everyone safe.  Deleware State Government

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Delaware Department of Agriculture announced that the Delaware Agricultural Lands Preservation Foundation preserved 36 properties and over 2,800 acres for $14.9 million at Oliphant Farm in Laurel—attended by Governor Matt Meyer and other officials. The event coincides with National Farmers Day, which will be celebrated on Sunday, Oct. 12.  Deleware State Government

  • Health reporter Nick Stonesifer discussed his investigation into Delaware charity care on the Beyond the Headlines podcast+he examined why ChristianaCare’s free care remains low as its profits rise and how current hospital policies may affect patients.
