- ➤ The Farmers’ Almanac predicts Delaware will face its coldest periods in mid- to late December, early January, and late January and will have a milder, drier winter with fewer snow days, though snow may still occur in late December, early January, and late February—reporting a 0%-10% chance for a white Christmas after 22 years without one. - ➤ During Delaware’s annual Coastal Cleanup last month, volunteers removed 5,121 pounds of trash including unusual items such as a car exhaust and bean bag chair from beaches, wetlands, and waterways—officials remain concerned about discarded plastics and cigarette butts and noted a 3,000-pound increase from 2024. - ➤ Wilmington City Council approved ordinances that created the Education Workforce Down-payment and Settlement Assistance Program to loan up to $15 thousand to first-time homebuyers who work in education and passed measures that require landlords to include full tenants’ rights in leases and allow tenants to hold funds in escrow if maintenance issues are not fixed—city officials will now work with the Department of Real Estate and Housing to implement the programs without a fiscal impact on taxpayers.
