- ➤ Wilmington officials are working to correct property reassessments—Mayor Carney proposed hiring a third-party firm to inspect interior assessments in areas with tax hikes and has asked for a $500,000 budget amendment to address concerns after a court-ordered reassessment. WDEL
- ➤ House Bill 67 was signed into law Thursday to protect drivers from predatory towing—this law requires tow companies to show written authorization and photographic evidence before towing, caps fees at $250 for towing and $50 per day for storage, and lets drivers retrieve their personal belongings. Matt Meyer said he may require local governments to ease zoning rules to let more apartments and townhomes be built if they do not join a pilot program (applications are due Oct. 31) aimed at fixing the affordable housing shortage in Delaware; local officials have mixed views on the plan. - ➤ New Castle County will delay issuing new property tax bills until a lawsuit is resolved— a trial set for Oct. 20 will decide if the split rates on business and homeowner properties are constitutional.
