- ➤ Ferris School chaplain Mark P. Gardner asked Delawareans to donate conservative business suits, dress shirts, ties, and lace-up shoes to help young men build confidence and reduce behavioral issues at the secure juvenile detention facility. He said the suits support programs like Monthly Manhood Mondays and can help lower an 85% recidivism rate — a change that gives these young men a better chance to see themselves differently. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On September 6 at 11:00 p.m. the Delaware State Police said that a suspect—identified as 58-year-old Purnell Collins from Seaford—fled a traffic stop for an expired registration and his Chevrolet Silverado collided head-on with a Ford F-150 near Blades, triggering a three-vehicle crash that left him dead, one driver injured, and another declining treatment. - ➤ Domenico Mazzella, owner of Mazzella’s Italian Restaurant in Bellevue, pleaded guilty to four counts of tax evasion and 12 counts of failing to handle trust fund taxes after diverting over $600,000 from business accounts (and he agreed to pay more than $549,000 in restitution) and faces up to five years in prison per count when he is sentenced in January. - ➤ On Monday, gunfire erupted at 10th and Bennet Streets when a woman was shot on the steps of her Wilmington home and a 28-year-old man was wounded — the woman is in critical condition and the man is stable as investigators examined evidence at two nearby crime scenes. 6abc

- ➤ Delaware singers who dream of stardom will register online for American Idol virtual auditions on Zoom on Sept. 19—hopefuls must follow all website steps to receive an email with their Zoom link. Delaware Online
- ➤ Darryl — DMC will headline Delaware's Hip Hop Cultural Summit on October 18 at the Delaware Art Museum, which is expected to draw up to 3,000 guests. The event will feature rap battles, panel discussions and art exhibits that link hip hop's roots to its future. Delaware Online

- ➤ A recent study by GamblingSites.com ranked Delaware fifth on a lottery win index—measuring prize payouts, taxes, cost of living and crime rates—and showed that lottery winners in our state benefit from tax-friendly policies and quality of life. The ranking placed Delaware ahead of larger states like Texas and Missouri while trailing only California, Florida, New Hampshire and New York. Delaware Online

- ➤ The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission will hold a hybrid public hearing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept 18 at DNREC’s Little Creek Hunter Education Center — or join online — to gather public input on a draft addendum for the Atlantic Striped Bass Interstate Fishery Management Plan. The addendum will propose a 12% cut in fishery removals, revise commercial tagging, and adjust recreational season and size limits to help rebuild the stock by 2029. Deleware State Government

- ➤ Delaware law requires drivers behind a stopped school bus with red lights to stop if the road is narrow - on wider roads, drivers on the opposite side may keep going. Police have issued 44 e-tickets since Sept. 3 and note that first offenses carry fines starting at $115 with potential jail time. Delaware Online
