- ➤ An inside look at the Food Bank of Delaware's Glasgow location on Lake Drive — captured on August 5 — shows workers and volunteers stocking shelves and helping customers while culinary students learn to make pie crusts. Delaware Online
- ➤ Today, The News Journal announced it will close its century-old Needy Family Fund and transfer its remaining funds to the Food Bank of Delaware to help fight hunger amid federal cutbacks. The fund will serve as matching funds for campaigns next year. Delaware Online
- ➤ The Food Market in Wilmington is providing groceries and breakfast bags to families whose children attend the four schools in the Community Education Building—managed by Food Support Specialist Angel Nieves—to help ease food insecurity as the new academic year begins. Delaware Online
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Delaware State Troopers investigated a shooting in Claymont where a 34-year-old Pennsylvania man was injured by gunshots at Ridge Liquors parking lot at 11:30 p.m. on Friday—he drove himself to a Pennsylvania hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as troopers are seeking suspects. WDEL

- ➤ Mrs. Doubtfire the musical runs from September 26—28 at The Playhouse on Rodney Square in Wilmington and stars Craig Allen Smith as a man who dresses as a nanny to stay close to his kids. Actress Melissa Campbell and actor Brian Kalinowski join the cast in a show that mixes funny songs with a heartfelt story—bringing a beloved film to life on stage. 6abc

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Wilmington City Council will consider an ordinance that will temporarily ban new convenience and liquor stores until a study shows their health and safety impacts—raised by community concerns over crime and unhealthy foods.
