- ➤ ShopRite released a list of Labor Day hours for its Pennsylvania and Delaware stores so locals can plan their holiday shopping. The schedule shows varied opening times—some locations start at 6 a.m. while others close as late as 12 a.m. Delaware Online
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Brandywine Festival of the Arts will take place at Brandywine Park on September 6th and 7th—over 15,000 visitors will enjoy art, food, live experiences, free flu shots and a yoga class at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. WDEL

- ➤ Powerball drawing today at 10:59 p.m. ET has a jackpot of $1 billion, making it the sixth largest ever after no winning ticket on Aug. 27. Delaware tickets can be bought until 9:45 p.m. ET + one ticket won $50,000 in the last drawing. Delaware Online
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Kathy Jennings and a coalition stopped $184 million in cuts to AmeriCorps programs, preserving over $750,000 for local service groups. The White House Office of Management and Budget later agreed to release the funds—ensuring service programs in Delaware and nationwide continue to operate. Deleware State Government
- ➤ The Delaware Department of Transportation opened a third lane on I-295 northbound between Route 141 and Route 13 just in time for Labor Day weekend. The project took about a year and cost over $32 million to ease congestion on a stretch that normally sees 113,000 vehicles a day. WDEL
- ➤ Wilmington port union leader Bill Ashe Jr. threatened to petition New Jersey to build a container terminal after Delaware’s Edgemoor expansion stalled due to permit issues. Secretary of State Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez said officials worked to reissue permits and address safety concerns by year's end — a move that has raised tensions at state port board meetings.
