ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A bus crash at Townsend Street and A Street today around 9:05 a.m. prompted emergency crews — including paramedics and multiple fire departments — to evaluate seven people, with a 22-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman, and an 8-year-old passenger receiving treatment for minor injuries before being transported to Wilmington Hospital and AI DuPont in stable condition.  First State Update
  • Delaware State Police said Zack Napolitano, a 21-year-old motorcyclist from Wilmington, crashed into a guardrail on Aug. 10 on Route 141 when he took an off-ramp toward Route 52 plus he died on Aug. 24.  Delaware Online

CRIME NEWS

  • New Castle County Division of Police arrested two Wilmington men—26-year-old Cedrick Facon and 22-year-old Sadir Black—on Friday, August 22 after detectives linked them to multiple vehicle break-ins reported from May through July across Newark, Wilmington, and Bear; a search warrant at a motel on Governor Printz Boulevard in Claymont recovered a handgun and stolen items.  New Castle County Police Department

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A DNREC statewide survey shows 74% of Delaware residents are concerned about climate change and 79% view it as a serious threat to communities and future generations, with many reporting local impacts and urging more state action such as limiting new construction in flood zones—results that will help shape the 2025 Climate Action Plan and be discussed at a public session on Tuesday, September 16 at the Orlando J. George Jr. Campus in Wilmington. The 1,520-respondent study was conducted from February 5–18 and highlights rising demands for stronger local environmental measures.  Deleware State Government

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Matt Meyer announced Monday that Brig. Gen. Karen A. Berry was nominated as Delaware’s first Cabinet Secretary of the new Department of Veterans Affairs, which will support over 70,000 veterans statewide; if confirmed by the Senate, she will lead the department’s transition from the Department of State to full independence by July 1.  WDEL
  • The NHTSA issued recalls last week for over 175,000 vehicles from Mitsubishi, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, and Ram after faulty parts created safety concerns — dealers will replace the faulty components free of charge on scheduled dates, affecting models sold in 27 states including Delaware.  Delaware Online
