CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday, August 14th at 9:07 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Balfour Avenue in the Knollwood community for a welfare check and found 53-year-old Clifton Bailey dead from a gunshot wound to his upper arm; detectives later ruled his death a homicide. - ➤ On August 14th, 2025 at 9:07 a.m., officers from New Castle County Division of Police went to a Knollwood residence on Balfour Avenue for a welfare check and found 53-year-old Clifton Bailey dead after a gunshot wound to his upper extremity—detectives ruled the incident a homicide with no arrests made as the investigation continues. - ➤ Delaware State Police investigated a knifepoint robbery that occurred on August 20 at the Kohl’s parking lot at 4437 Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington (where a dark-skinned male suspect demanded a woman's property while she sat in her car before fleeing in a white Dodge Ram) and the victim was not injured. - ➤ Delaware electric utilities received a $25 million refund from NRG after overcharging for power and passed the savings to customers by lowering rates and upgrading infrastructure—municipalities are now deciding how best to use their allocated refunds. Spotlight Delaware

- ➤ Today Governor Matt Meyer signed 10 bills that boost public safety and mental health by creating a state Office of Suicide Prevention and updating victim rights.
