CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On August 13th, detectives from New Castle County’s ACT Team stopped a red Nissan Sentra in Edgemoor for multiple traffic violations and recovered two loaded handguns—a Smith and Wesson and a G3 Taurus 9mm—from driver Bre’yanah Coleman-Davis and passenger Wanya Wray, who were then taken into custody on charges including carrying a concealed deadly weapon. - ➤ Delaware State Police charged a 17-year-old from New Castle with drug and weapons offenses after stopping his car on Route 1 on August 13 for speeding over 100 mph—troopers found marijuana, a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, and he later posted a $11,900 secured bond. WDEL

- ➤ Today, Delaware Public Archives launched an enhanced Historical Markers Map — built on ArcGIS with DE FirstMap — that lets community members search state markers and read details about topics like America’s 250th anniversary, Black History, Native American heritage and Women’s History. - ➤ Delaware created a new Office of the Inspector General yesterday to root out fraud, waste and abuse in state government. Gov. Matt Meyer said the nonpartisan watchdog has subpoena power and will work with state oversight offices as a selection panel meets soon — a nominee is expected by Dec. 31. Delaware Public Media
- ➤ Former Delaware governor and congressman Mike Castle died at 86, ending a career that spanned over 40 years with two terms as governor and nine terms in the U.S. House. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Matt Meyer has partnered with nonprofit Undue Medical Debt on a three-year pilot that will cancel $50M of medical debt for qualifying Delaware residents—costing taxpayers $500,000.
