- ➤ A burglary in The Flats led to a shooting on Tuesday, August 5th when police say 35-year-old Tyre Hampton was grazed on the head during the incident and taken to a hospital—69-year-old Lamotte Cephas was charged with assault in connection with the shooting. WDEL

- ➤ Delaware reported over $903,000 in combined recreational marijuana sales from a three-day weekend starting August 1, with New Castle County showing $432,319.78, Sussex County $242,832.64 and Kent County $227,946.54—strong numbers that signal growing consumer demand. Governor Matt Meyer said the results mark the beginning of a well-regulated market that will boost the state’s economy and fund public health programs. Deleware State Government

- ➤ Nomad, an adult piping plover injured at Fowler Beach on Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge, was taken to Tri-State Bird Rescue in Newark in early July and released at The Point on Cape Henlopen to resume a healthy beach-nesting lifestyle. He has since been seen foraging normally, and a cooperative effort by DNREC, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Tri-State protects this threatened species. Deleware State Government

- ➤ SEPTA announced today that if state lawmakers fail to add funding by Aug 14, the agency will begin cutting 3,000 bus stops, eliminating 32 bus routes and reducing rail services—fares will rise 21.5% on Sept 1 and further cuts are planned for Jan 1 if no new funding is provided. WHYY
