- ➤ The U.S. Department of Labor said that new unemployment claims in Delaware dropped last week from 259 to 241. The report also said that jobless claims nationwide increased by 1,000 claims — showing different trends in local and national job losses. Delaware Online

- ➤ Delaware public schools will open their doors at different times later in August through early September—Brandywine, Colonial, Laurel and others start on August 25 while a few districts begin on August 27 or September 2, with some hosting orientation or transition days ahead of full classes.
