- ➤ Delaware State troopers said three men robbed a 44-year-old Newark man at the Superlodge motel in Holloway Terrace around 12 a.m. Saturday when he had let a woman use his bathroom—one suspect used a gun to hit him and put him in a choke hold before the trio fled on foot. WDEL

- ➤ A proposal by Starwood Digital Ventures to build a 1.2-gigawatt data center near Delaware City Refinery would use as much power as 875,000 to 1 million homes and up to 13 million gallons of water a day while creating over 200 jobs and hundreds of construction positions. Delaware officials will hold a town hall meeting at 5:30 p.m. July 24 at Delaware City Hall—concerns over energy use and environmental impact persist as the state debates its power supply challenges. - ➤ Delaware waters host 62 shark species — including sandbar, dogfish, sand tiger and Atlantic mako — and only five shark attacks have been recorded since 1837, with two incidents at Cape Henlopen State Park in 2014 and 2020. - ➤ The Prescription Opioid Settlement Distribution Commission approved nearly $14 million in opioid abatement grants after a year-long funding freeze that started following fraud concerns with Code Purple—commission officials hired an outside firm to review the process and set new guardrails.
