ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A study by Bader Scott using NHTSA data from 2018 to 2022 shows nearly one in five of Delaware's 605 fatal crashes occurred on Friday—Wednesdays and Sundays each had 91 fatal incidents while Monday had the fewest. - ➤ Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced on July 16th that Gilead Sciences settled kickback allegations by agreeing to return $96,571.13 to Delaware Medicaid as part of a broader $202 million deal. The settlement, which addressed claims from January 2011 through November 2017, aimed to curb practices that led to improper billing — a measure to protect state healthcare funds. - ➤ Governor Matt Meyer signed a broad package of energy and environmental legislation on Wednesday to lower utility costs, improve energy reliability, and protect Delaware’s natural resources and wildlife. The 11 bills include reforms in utility rate-setting, customer fund limits, grid transparency, energy storage pilots, low-income utility assistance, and tougher penalties on commercial polluters — as well as measures to name the state’s official migratory bird and dragonfly. - ➤ Delaware 250 awarded nearly $35,000 in grants on July 17th to six local organizations planning projects for the 250th anniversary of US independence—projects that include musical events, exhibits, historic site improvements, and more.
