- ➤ The Delaware Restaurant Foundation and Goldey-Beacom College launched a Hospitality Leadership Advancement Program to offer training in leadership, finance and communication to help hospitality workers advance their careers under a state Workforce Development Board grant. Fifteen participants will start in August while another fifteen will join in the spring to earn 12 transferable college credits and a business management certificate — a boost for Delaware’s largest small business employer. - ➤ Wilmington man Donnie Taylor was sentenced to 12 years in federal prison for a 2022 crime spree—he lured victims with false promises, committed assaults, stole money and property, and fled across state lines before being caught. WDEL
- ➤ A Wilmington man named Daniel Tiberi was arrested for cutting utility cables along Milltown Road on June 11th when officers found damaged wires and tools in a silver Lincoln MKX and later took him from a Kentucky Avenue home—he now faces charges of aggravated criminal mischief, second-degree conspiracy, attempted theft and a fugitive offense. - ➤ Delaware will start recreational marijuana sales on Aug. 1, allowing only medical dispensaries to open at the start, which has raised concerns from new licensees who must wait for full approval. The Marijuana Commissioner said that all pending licenses will be processed within the next two months while critics warn this plan could limit choices for consumers. Spotlight Delaware
- ➤ New Castle County property owners can now view a preview of their updated tax information after recent property reassessments by visiting the county parcel search page online—this preview shows changes in school and county taxes before the official bills are mailed in the third week of July and payments are due by Sept. 30.
