- ➤ Authorities suspended recovery operations on Delaware Memorial Bridge after a Bobtail Tractor crashed early Friday at about 3:40 a.m. and hit a concrete wall before falling into the Delaware River—its driver presumed dead as hazardous water conditions halted further work. First State Update
- ➤ The bobtail truck cab plunged into the Delaware River on July 11 after crashing off the Delaware Memorial Bridge around 3:40 a.m.—search and recovery resumed Saturday morning as officials presumed the driver dead. WDEL

- ➤ The 2025 Most Famous Delawarean contest is in Round 4, with voting open from today to July 16 as voters cut the list from 10 finalists to five—local names such as Joe Biden and Aubrey Plaza remain in the running for the title. The contest, which features a weekly elimination format, will crown a single winner next week. Delaware Online
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Delaware restaurants, food trucks and other eateries must stop using Styrofoam packaging and related plastic items as the ban took effect on July 1, giving businesses a period to adjust before fines begin in July 2026. Establishments in health care are exempt — local operators have already switched to alternative materials to meet the new law. WHYY

- ➤ On July 9, 2025, New Castle County Executive Marcus Henry signed ordinance 25-072 to update school property tax exemptions for over 7,000 seniors, the disabled, and partially disabled veterans so they avoid a steep tax rise.
