- ➤ Sunday Breakfast Mission, Habitat for Humanity and Christ the Cornerstone Church renovated rowhomes on Wilmington’s east side that opened on June 17 as transitional housing with four bedrooms, shared living spaces and a modern kitchen. Residents pay $300 monthly to live in the units and work toward education or career goals — local leaders say the project shows how nonprofit teamwork can improve housing stability. Delaware Online
- ➤ Wilmington’s Play Streets event was held on July 8 near Harlan Elementary School where, despite heavy rain, families gathered for free food, music and activities to honor late councilwoman Rysheema Dixon. - ➤ Wilmington Airport has seen more than 660,000 passengers since Avelo Airlines began service in February 2023—recording the highest volume in recent history with over 156,000 travelers in the first half of 2025. - ➤ Delaware transit officials proposed changes to popular DART bus routes in New Castle County that will reconfigure routes 13 and 40 and eliminate route 54—parts of which will join an expanded route 64; a public meeting is set for tomorrow, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bear Library to review the conceptual plan. - ➤ Julianne Murray, the GOP Chair, has been named interim federal prosecutor by Attorney General Pam Bondi amid political scrutiny over cases like Hunter Biden & Wal-Mart opioid sales. Murray will hold the temporary role and is set to speak publicly after being sworn in, state GOP officials said. Spotlight Delaware
- ➤ County Executive Marcus Henry said he was pushing for more youth services and safe places for kids and noted that transportation and funding barriers hindered such programs. - ➤ On June 18th, the Delaware Public Service Commission approved Chesapeake Utilities' settlement that raised natural gas base rates, with residential heating customers facing a 6% increase and non-heating customers a 6.5% increase. The settlement—Chesapeake's first base rate hike in nine years—means bills will increase by about $5.37 and $2.74 per month for these customers while keeping fixed charges unchanged.
