- ➤ Veolia held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 18 as it opened its $35 million PFAS water treatment plant near Newport, the largest of its kind in the Northeast that will treat up to 30 million gallons per day from two rivers serving about 140,000 residents—this 17,600-square-foot facility at 2000 First State Blvd. uses 42 vessels of granular activated carbon and a lab to test new filtration methods ahead of EPA PFAS standards before the 2029 deadline.
