ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 1-year-old baby fell into a backyard pool on Calf Run Drive while family members were getting ready for a party—and after being rescued and given CPR, medics took the baby to Nemours Children's Hospital while officials said the condition remains unknown. 6abc
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ James G. Watson, 42, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on June 10 by New Castle County Superior Court to 15 years in prison and probation for causing a fatal overdose in March 2024—11 years for manslaughter and 4 years for drug dealing—reportedly marking Delaware’s first homicide conviction against a fentanyl dealer. - ➤ On June 16, 2025 at about 10:26 p.m., officers in Alban Park heard multiple gunshots near Homestead Road, pursued a speeding vehicle, and found its 26-year-old driver with gunshot wounds to his lower extremities who received first aid and was sent to a nearby hospital + detectives from the Criminal Investigation Unit took over the active investigation. - ➤ Governor Meyer appointed Tyler Gunter as the student board member on the State Board of Education on June 13, giving him a non-voting role to advise on key issues until the end of the 2025-2026 school year. Gunter is a rising senior at MOT Charter High School—he is expected to bring a fresh perspective to decisions on graduation requirements and school equity. Deleware State Government
- ➤ Today the Delaware House passed a bill that will extend free breakfast eligibility to all public school students while keeping limited free lunch options; the measure, funded by reallocating money from a DOJ lease and costing an estimated $3.2 million next year, passed 35—1.
