- ➤ Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy on May 5 and announced plans to close more Delaware stores in a series of waves that include locations in Camden, Dover, and Wilmington—stores affected by a move that ended rewards points and gift card use by June 5. - ➤ Two men from Middletown and Townsend were charged with cutting fiber optic wires that interrupted 911 service—State Police reported an incident on May 10 and another on May 30 near Summit Bridge Road and Green Giant Road, with both suspects facing multiple felony charges. WDEL
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Organizations can apply for grants between $10,000 and $40,000 for Spring planting projects under the Tree for Every Delawarean Initiative, which aims to plant 1M trees by 2030. DNREC Secretary Greg Patterson said the funds will support efforts to improve air and water quality and enhance wildlife habitat—eligible applicants include state agencies, conservation districts, municipalities, schools, colleges, businesses and tribal governments.
