CRIME NEWS

  • Delaware State Police investigated an attempted robbery in the parking lot of PNC Bank at 1704 Marsh Road when an unknown suspect demanded money at about 2:00 p.m. on May 27— the suspect fled when the victim did not comply and was not injured.  First State Update

CULTURE NEWS

  • Delaware's top baby names for 2024 feature Liam, Noah, and Oliver for boys and Charlotte, Sophia, and Emma for girls—while the state report shows shifts with Luna and Harper entering the girls' list and Owen, Dylan, and Leo joining the boys'. The list, based on Social Security data, gives new naming options to parents and marks a change from previous trends.  Delaware Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • DNREC has been tracking an incident at the Delaware City Refinery since May 26 after an equipment failure caused sulfur dioxide releases that remain below health standards. The agency now offers tools—DERNS and the Air Quality Monitoring Network—to give the public updates on environmental release reports and air quality levels.  Deleware State Government
