ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Late Friday night, rescue crews responded to an accident at the intersection of Pulaski Highway and Glasgow Avenue in Newark—where a woman in her 40s was taken to Christiana Hospital after her vehicle hit a utility pole—and authorities have not released details on the crash cause or her condition.  First State Update

CRIME NEWS

  • Wilmington police said a 24-year-old man was fatally shot and a 25-year-old man injured on May 23 at 7:44 p.m. near West 23rd Street and Washington Street — this marks the city's sixth fatal shooting in 2025.  Delaware Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • NOAA data from Lewes show the ocean temperature off Delaware is 61.9°F — near May's average of 60°F — and swimmers should be cautious in water below 70°F. Delaware beaches are forecast to be mostly sunny with air temperatures in the low 70s during Memorial Day weekend.  Delaware Online

  • New Castle County Police Department is hiring entry-level recruits, Delaware-certified officers, and out-of-state certified officers with a starting salary of $74,453+ and extra benefits such as 16 paid holidays that add about $15,000 annually, no residency requirement, a take-home police car, extra-duty opportunities, a 20-year retirement plan, and 25+ specialized units for career growth.  New Castle County Police Department
