ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Four people were injured in a two-car crash on Kennett Pike Saturday afternoon—one in critical condition—as multiple emergency responders arrived at about 4:35 p.m. to transport patients with possible internal injuries to Christiana Hospital while police began investigating the scene.  WDEL

CULTURE NEWS

  • Michelle Di Russo has been named the first female music director of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra as it enters its 120th season. The appointment marks a historic moment for the orchestra — she will lead the group as it prepares for her debut concert on Oct. 10.  WHYY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware lawmakers approved a proposal that will let seniors switch Medicare supplement plans during a special enrollment period 30 days before and after their birthdays, Sen Ray Seigfried said. The bill cleared committee + now awaits a full Senate vote.  Delaware Public Media
  • Delaware regulators and lawmakers will hold several public meetings this week to review hospital costs, utility bills, and a major highway project while also discussing bills on gun control, electric scooters, and water safety. The meetings include today’s transportation webinar at 6 p.m., a Tuesday hospital review in New Castle, and a Wednesday utility session online — allowing local residents to share their input.  Spotlight Delaware

HEALTH NEWS

  • A recent inspection report shows that food establishments in New Castle County have recorded many health and safety violations in the past 30 days—La Parrillada Mexican Grill received the highest count with 18 violations on April 22.  Delaware Online
  • On May 8, Wilmington officials unveiled a new navy blue sign on the Washington Avenue Bridge displaying the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline phone number 988 to help prevent suicides. Council member Shane Darby said more signs and safety nets will be installed soon to strengthen mental health support — a first step in the city's prevention strategy.  Delaware Online
