  • The Delaware Division of the Arts is accepting applications for a four-day retreat for creative writers in fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry that will take place November 5-8 at Biden Environmental Center in Cape Henlopen State Park; applications must be submitted by July 1.  Deleware State Government

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Experts examined how proposed data centers could affect local power bills during a Spotlight Delaware panel held last month at Wilmington University in Dover. The discussion highlighted models in which a full 2.4 GW build-out may spike rates by up to 82% & officials considered policy options to balance grid reliability with emissions.  Spotlight Delaware

  • Sen. Laura Sturgeon's bills advanced out of the Senate Education Committee on Tuesday to prepare for a hybrid school funding model that gives more money to schools with more low-income and English-learning students — the Department of Education will start planning for the new system in fiscal 2028.  Spotlight Delaware

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delaware senators passed SB 22 out of committee Tuesday, requiring insurers to boost provider networks so Delawareans can access mental health & addiction treatment within 10 days. The bill now heads to the full Senate for further debate.  Spotlight Delaware

  • WilmU's men's lacrosse team won the CACC Tournament by beating Chestnut Hill 9-5 on May 2 and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament; they will face undefeated Adelphi on May 10.  Delaware LIVE
  • The Wilmington University women's lacrosse team defeated Dominican University New York 13-9 on May 2 to capture its first CACC championship, and they will move on to the NCAA Division II Tournament (their rematch with Dominican is scheduled).  Delaware LIVE
