- ➤ After a 22-month audition process with 147 candidates, the Delaware Symphony named Michelle Di Russo as its new music director designate—she is the first woman to lead the 120-year-old orchestra. Di Russo will take the stage as music director on October 10—season tickets will go on sale later this month. Delaware Public Media

- ➤ More than 100 UD students join eight a cappella groups and rehearse unaccompanied pop music to build a close community on campus — they practice several times a week, mentor younger singers, and perform in concerts that keep a 35-year tradition alive. - ➤ Governor Matt Meyer today announced the application deadline for the student seat on the State Board of Education will be extended to Monday, May 12 at 5:00 p.m.—allowing rising juniors and seniors more time to apply online. - ➤ Wilmington City Council approved Ordinance 25-012 on May 1 that raises ambulance fees from $135 to $1,000 and revises charges for oxygen and transport as the city prepares for the Wilmington Fire Department to take over EMS after St. Francis Hospital ends service on June 30. The new fee schedule will generate about $2.6 million for the 2026 fiscal year and takes effect immediately upon mayoral approval. Delaware LIVE
- ➤ State regulators obtained FBI approval to conduct criminal background checks on aspiring marijuana operators after unexpected delays slowed Delaware's recreational marijuana industry. - ➤ Gov. Matt Meyer discussed protecting Delawareans from too much control by the federal government in an interview on May 5th & said he will take steps to safeguard their rights. Delaware Online
- ➤ Today at 8:30 a.m., the New Castle County Division of Police will hold its annual Police Memorial Service at the Cpl. Paul J. Sweeney Public Safety Building at 3601 North DuPont Highway to honor officers who died in the line of duty. New Castle County Police Department
