- ➤ The Lt. Joseph Szczerba Memorial 5K is scheduled for Thursday, Apr. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Abessinio Stadium (1021 West 18th St) in Wilmington, where participants will run or walk to honor his legacy. New Castle County Police Department

- ➤ Wilmington-based nonprofit First State Educate trains locals to run for school boards by offering workshops and mentorship that helped candidates like Carlos Dipres and Dr. Keenan Dorsey strengthen governance — a program that prepared nearly one-third of Delaware’s board members in 16 districts from 2023 to 2025. - ➤ Yesterday, April 20, the Delaware Environmental Institute at the University of Delaware hosted a policy forum as part of the new Carper Collaborative on Climate and Jobs. Former Senator Carper, who expressed concern about the state's coastal conditions, brought together policymakers, business leaders and UD students to discuss climate challenges. WDEL

- ➤ DNREC revised fishing rules for black sea bass, lowering the minimum size from 13 to 12.5 inches & opening the season on May 1 with a 15-fish daily limit while ending an Oct. 1 to Oct. 9 closure; however, NOAA may not update federal rules for offshore waters in time. Deleware State Government
- ➤ The Delaware Department of Human Resources and the Department of Labor will host a career fair on Friday, April 24 at Delaware Technical Community College, Terry Campus in Dover. It offers a morning session for invited students plus a public session from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for state job seekers. Deleware State Government
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Delaware Division of Public Health presented its Cancer Incidence and Mortality in Delaware report for 2018 to 2022 on April 20, showing a 1.5% yearly decline in cancer death rates dating to 2008. - ➤ The Philadelphia Phillies opened their four-game series against the Chicago Cubs on April 20 at Wrigley Field (Chicago), with NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcasting the game and radio coverage on 94WIP and WDEL 101.7 FM/1150 AM. Delaware Online
- ➤ Delaware Online has launched a project to rank the state’s best high school athletes and invites local readers to share their input via an online form. The initiative starts with football players and will later expand to include athletes from other sports before finalizing a top 10 list. Delaware Online
