- ➤ On April 19, protesters gathered along DuPont Highway near Wilmington Airport to oppose Avelo Airlines' new deportation flights for ICE. Organizers estimated about 400 people attended and noted that drivers honked in support as the demonstration took place. Delaware Online
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Delaware State Police are investigating a serious motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday, April 19 in Wilmington at about 3:00 p.m. near the intersection of Center Road and Lancaster Pike—paramedics treated a 50-year-old man with a head injury and suspected internal injuries and transported him in serious condition to Christiana Hospital while Cranston Heights fire personnel aided emergency responders. - ➤ Delaware State Police investigated a two-vehicle collision—causing a rollover crash—on April 18th at about 8:48 p.m. at the intersection of East Chestnut Hill Road and Marrows Road in Newark, where a 47-year-old man was seriously injured and a 43-year-old woman was taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition. - ➤ Gov. Matt Meyer signed an Executive Order last week to create the Delaware Interagency Collaborative to End Homelessness. The group will review and combine state programs and funding to help people move from the Hope Center—Delaware's largest full-service homeless shelter—into safe housing. Delaware Public Media
- ➤ As warmer weather increases ATV and OHV activity, state officials remind riders that Delaware law allows these vehicles only on off-road trails and specially permitted events. Violators risk fines up to $1,000, towing, and impoundment for up to 6 months, and residents can report illegal riding by calling (302) 573-2800. New Castle County Police Department
- ➤ A new bill in the General Assembly — House Bill 123 — would make firing a gun at a dwelling, place of worship, vehicle or business a Class E felony even if no one is struck.
