- ➤ Delaware’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for February was unchanged from the previous month — it was 1.1 percentage points higher than last year, according to a report issued Friday, Apr. 17. Bay to Bay News

- ➤ University of Delaware held the inauguration of its 29th president, Dr. Laura Carlson, on Friday at The Green. The event brought together students, academic leaders and local officials and emphasized a vision of unity for the campus. WDEL
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Delaware’s General Assembly is considering House Bill 315, which would ban swipe fees on tips and potentially save local restaurants up to $6,700 a year; local banks have spent over $100K on ad campaigns to oppose the measure as it awaits a House vote. Spotlight Delaware
- ➤ DelDOT postponed the lane restrictions on northbound I-95 in the construction zone at Route 141 up to I-495 due to the threat of rain; contractors had planned the traffic pattern change for 6 p.m. today as part of the bridge rehabilitation work. WDEL
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ChristianaCare partnered with Cardiovascular Physicians of Delaware and US Health Partners to build a $9.3 million cardiovascular surgery center in Stanton. The 9,000 sqft facility on the second floor of the HealthCare Center at Christiana across from Christiana Hospital will open in late 2027 and create 14 full-time jobs. Delaware Online
- ➤ The Reins of Honor annual fundraiser is held today at Wilson Lodge in Dover to benefit equine-assisted psychotherapy programs for veterans, active-duty military & first responders. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and offers lunch, entertainment, prize drawings, and more for a $35 ticket. WDEL

- ➤ Delaware State University has named former St. Elizabeth and Rutgers star Khadijah Rushdan as its new head women’s basketball coach.
