  • University of Delaware Ag Day will draw thousands to 531 S. College Ave. in Newark on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. as the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources hosts sheep shearing, a 500+ variety plant sale, Hen Talks, ice cream tasting & research studies.  University of Delaware
  • On Wednesday, April 15, contractors, suppliers, and volunteers installed a new roof at the Claymont home of late officer Christopher Skrobot after a persistent leak was reported eight months earlier - the work was donated at no cost to his family.  WDEL

  • UD and partners report that V2G-enabled electric vehicles can earn up to $3,359 for private owners by storing and returning energy to the grid + fleet vehicles may earn over $9,000, as a pilot at Delmarva Power shows the technology works and could boost clean energy in our region.  University of Delaware

  • Wilmington native Aubrey Plaza appeared on The View on April 16 to discuss her animated series Kevin, which begins streaming Apr. 20. She joined Whoopi Goldberg, John Waters, and Amy Sedaris as she explained how the series draws on personal experiences (including a giant cat) to bring humor to life.  Delaware Online

  • Gas prices dropped slightly this week as AAA credited optimism from a U.S.-Iran ceasefire, with Delaware averaging $3.95 on April 16 while the national average stayed above $4 per gallon.  Delaware Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Delaware State Housing Authority rebranded its single-family mortgage program on April 16 as the Delaware Mortgage Program and launched two new loan options, Keys4You and Take5, to offer low- and moderate-income homebuyers competitive rates + down payment and closing cost assistance statewide.  Deleware State Government

HEALTH NEWS

  • Faith in Action provides free rides for seniors and people with disabilities to medical appointments, pharmacies, and grocery stores today in Wilmington. The service has served 93 clients with over 3,000 volunteer hours in 2025 and seeks more volunteer drivers (eligibility criteria apply) to fill transportation gaps.  Delaware Online
