- ➤ Constitution Yards Beer Garden in Wilmington is set to reopen in late spring after moving across the street from its old spot on Justison Street. - ➤ A New Castle County grand jury indicted 26-year-old Nyzier Cannon-Wilson and 25-year-old Aaron Watson for the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Zaahir Thorton near 24th and Pine streets on August 28th, 2023+ they face charges for first-degree murder, firearm possession during a felony, and conspiracy. - ➤ Delaware Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness Board has launched the 2025 Organ Donor Awareness Video Scholarship Contest that invites high school students to create a one to two minute video on the importance of organ and tissue donation for a chance to win scholarships, with first-place winners receiving $1,000. - ➤ Eight international students at the University of Delaware lost their visas after federal actions by the Department of Homeland Security—without the university receiving any notice. No arrests or detentions were reported and the reasons for the terminations remain unclear. First State Update
- ➤ Odessa High School’s FFA and Agriscience Team won the 2025 Delaware Envirothon on April 10 at Blackbird State Forest Education Center in Townsend, breaking Charter School of Wilmington’s 22-year winning streak as CSW Force and Newark Charter School Aquaholics finished second and third. Each team member earned a $500 scholarship and the winners will represent Delaware at the National Conservation Foundation International Envirothon in Canada from July 20 to 26. - ➤ The U.S. Education Department said federal funds are a privilege, not a right and warned that Delaware schools might lose Title I money for poor students if they do not certify by April 24 that they follow the rules on DEI programs.
