  • Chapel Street Players are staging Arsenic and Old Lace in Newark, a quirky dark comedy about a 1940s family with a macabre twist. The all-volunteer cast will perform from April 17 through April 25 under director Kathleen Mooney, who researched authentic period details (including doorknobs) for accuracy.  Delaware Public Media
  • Wilmington's Louis L. Redding City/County Building hosts the Trash Into Treasure Delaware Art Contest until April 29, where local artists use recycled trash to create works that promote clean waterways + coincide with the Christina River Cleanup on Saturday, April 11.  WHYY

  • Delaware farmers face steeper fuel and fertilizer prices amid the Iran war as they prepare to plant crops starting mid-April; some who did not lock in prices last fall expect to cut back on inputs, which could lower yields and keep costs high for months.  Spotlight Delaware
  • Gas prices in the Central Atlantic region are rising as drivers prepare for spring trips. The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported regular fuel cost $3.90 per gallon on March 30, up from $3.86 last week & experts say prices could increase another 20 to 30 cents soon.  Delaware Online
  • Shoppers in Wilmington face higher Easter candy prices today as a $93 budget now buys 40% less candy due to inflation + shrinkflation trends. A national analysis shows chocolate prices have steeply risen since 2020, impacting holiday traditions.  Delaware Online

  • Wilmington Learning Collaborative faces a potential 80% state funding cut for FY27 that could force changes in managing salaries for 30 positions at nine schools while the group drafts a strategic roadmap and will schedule a special session with at least one week's notice.  Delaware Public Media

  • Former U.S. Sen Tom Carper announced a new partnership with the University of Delaware to form the Collaborative for Climate and Jobs, which will unite researchers, business leaders, labor, and policymakers to address environmental, energy, and workforce challenges.   • Delaware released its 2026 Strategic Framework for Contaminants of Emerging Concern and first-ever PFAS Implementation Plan to protect drinking water, food, and ecosystems.   • UD's Kunjapur lab developed a system where one E. coli strain relies on another to produce a synthetic amino acid, a method that could lead to safer vaccines and improved control of microbial activity.
