CULTURE NEWS

  • Delaware veterans can join free eight-week art courses by the Delaware Division of the Arts and Office of Veterans Services, with classes starting next week in Kent, Sussex (and a pilot at the Veterans Home) to boost creative skills; one session is full while two remain open.  Deleware State Government
  • Deputy editor Tim Carlin joins the 'Beyond the Headlines' podcast to share his early morning journey with Leipsic watermen — detailing his firsthand reporting on the town’s rich maritime legacy and a new focus on community storytelling. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Delmarva Power will add $15 to its supply-side rate in June (a jump from last year’s $10 increase) according to Regional President Marcus Beale. He said the cost is set by the competitive PJM market and is separate from the $67.8 million grid operation fee it filed for in December.  Delaware Public Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from H.B. du Pont Middle School in Hockessin won first place in the 2026 Solar Racer event held today at the University of Delaware in Newark and will represent Delaware at the national TSA conference in Washington from June 22 to June 26.  Deleware State Government
  • The new Youth Development Center held a walk-and-talk tour on March 30 that previewed its gym and planned workforce programs and updated Community Education Building (showcasing local upgrades) on E. 12th and N. French St. U.S. Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester joined local leaders to explore the site.  Delaware Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The spring heat has spurred an early return of ruby-throated hummingbirds in southern Virginia that are expected to reach Delaware by mid‑April—local residents can prepare by hanging fresh feeders.  Delaware Online
  • DNREC will host youth fishing events in early April for kids ages 6 to 15 at Bellevue State Park in Wilmington (April 7), Silver Lake Park in Dover (April 8) and Trap Pond State Park in Laurel (April 9) as part of Earth Month; pre-registration is required.  Deleware State Government

HEALTH NEWS

  • ChristianaCare announced on March 27 a $75 million project to relocate rehabilitation services from Wilmington Hospital to Newark, where a new 73-bed facility will care for about 1,000 more patients per year and create 122 jobs. Groundbreaking is set for early 2027 with an opening in summer 2028.  Delaware Online

SPORTS NEWS

  • Delaware City FC clinched the MASL3 championship on March 29 at Fredericksburg Fieldhouse by beating the Muskegon Riders 10-6, capping their inaugural season. The team, which plays at the Kirkwood Soccer indoor facility near New Castle, may move to Chase Fieldhouse if promoted.  Delaware Online
  • Voting for Delaware High School Athlete of the Week is free on Delaware Online until Sunday for Week 1, with winners announced on April 3; the public may vote without limit for nominees including Whitney Evancho, James Moen, Gracie Riccio, Ido Rosenblatt, and Adison Weisenberger.  Delaware Online
