CULTURE NEWS

  • The Playhouse on Rodney Square offers a 2026-27 Broadway season with shows including The Wiz (Oct. 23-25), SIX (Nov. 27-29), Clue (Jan. 8-10), A Beautiful Noise (Feb. 12-14), Beetlejuice (Apr. 2-4) and The Bodyguard (May 7-9). Season subscriptions are open and individual tickets will be on sale this summer.  Delaware Online

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Delmarva Power filed new electricity supply rates with the Delaware Public Service Commission that will raise a typical bill by about $14.64 starting June 1, driven by higher fuel prices and market conditions — the rates apply only to local customers, with assistance programs available for eligible households.  WDEL

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Former UD professor David Farber, who helped shape the internet (91), died last month, leaving behind a legacy of research and innovation in Delaware.  Delaware Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents carrying an ordinary pocketknife with a closed (3.75-inch blade) need not worry under Delaware law, which deems them legal. The law, revised in 2025, treats all other knives as deadly weapons (unless used lawfully for trades, hunting or camping).  Delaware Online
  • Delaware tax experts say residents should begin preparing early as the tax deadline nears, advising prompt filing to avoid delays. They stress that early planning helps ensure smoother processing for local taxpayers.  Bay to Bay News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Allergy season in Wilmington is starting earlier as warmer weather & changing rainfall cause trees to bloom sooner and release more pollen. Local doctors advise residents to begin medications early and use precautions such as closing windows & air purifiers to ease symptoms.  WHYY

  • Joe and Jill Biden adopted two black Labrador mix puppies named Boo and Scout with support from Humane Animal Partners Delaware (which serves Wilmington, Stanton and Rehoboth Beach) after rescuing them from Tennessee.  Delaware Online
