- ➤ Delmarva Power’s recent rate hikes and cold weather have pushed some local customers to face bills that double or triple despite strict energy-saving measures. - ➤ Siara Husain from Islamic Academy of Delaware won the state regional spelling bee organized by First State Educate, outlasting talented students from across Delaware. - ➤ Governor Matt Meyer returned from India where he and state leaders announced a clean energy partnership between Versogen (a local tech firm) and InSolare Energy and discussed plans for a manufacturing facility set to open in 2027 to boost Delaware’s investment. Deleware State Government
- ➤ DNREC invites local non-profits, conservation districts, community organizations and homeowners associations to submit proposals for a Community Water Quality Improvement Grant ranging from $25,000 to $75,000 for water quality projects + proposals must be emailed by 4:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday, Apr. 29. - ➤ Delaware state employees using GLP-1 weight loss drugs will pay a new $200 copay for a 30-day supply beginning July 1, and monthly insurance premiums will rise 2.2% for Fiscal Year 2027 after the State Employee Benefits Committee approved the changes Monday morning (to offset rising drug costs). - ➤ Minquadale DMV reopens today with appointment-only service after it was the site in December where a man fatally shot state trooper Matthew (Ty) Snook; walk-in service continues at other DMV locations. 6abc
- ➤ Ford is recalling over 2.3 million vehicles while Honda and GM are recalling select models to fix issues with displays, overheating parts, and wipers. Owners in Delaware will receive notification letters from March 9 to April 20 (call local dealerships for repairs). Delaware Online
- ➤ A review of Delaware’s hands free law shows that drivers remain confused about texting at red lights because the rule applies only when vehicles are in motion (some drivers have received tickets). Enforcement continues as the law’s language leaves room for debate. Delaware Online
