  • Lauren Snook announced plans today to launch the Ty Snook Foundation + the nonprofit will support families of law enforcement officers in Wilmington and honor her late husband who died in the line of duty last December.  Delaware LIVE
  • Do More 24 Delaware is underway after beginning Thursday, Mar. 5 at 6:00 p.m. and will run until today at 6:00 p.m.— bolstering contributions to over 600 local nonprofits through continuous livestream and social media interaction.  WDEL
  • The 2026 Easterseals CAI Volleyball Challenge fundraiser will start on March 7 at 9:00 a.m. at the University of Delaware’s Carpenter Sports Building where teams of six or more will compete in adapted volleyball to meet a fundraising goal ($225,000) for local outreach programs.  Delaware LIVE

CULTURE NEWS

  • Delaware Historical Society & Public Archives showcase photos and newspaper front pages from the 1950s to highlight local landmarks and everyday life. The collection captures images of construction sites, boardwalks and community gatherings that offer a glimpse into Delaware’s rich history.  Delaware Online
  • The 82nd Annual DMS Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show is set for this weekend in Wilmington (Saturday: 10-5, Sunday: 11-5) and will feature dealers offering gems, minerals, and fossils. Tickets are sold at the door at $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $3 for juniors.  WDEL

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Fuel costs have increased as crude oil prices rise, and Delaware drivers now pay about $3.15 per gallon for regular gas, up from $2.95 last week. The change follows a month of rising prices reported across the region.  WHYY

  • The consolidation plan for Brandywine, Christina, Colonial, and Red Clay districts is delayed as the Redding Consortium said the consultant needs the rest of the year to complete a detailed proposal — officials plan to form an executive committee to guide the merger for over 43,000 students.  Spotlight Delaware
  • Delaware’s Department of Education presented a strategic plan Tuesday to set benchmarks for third grade reading, teacher retention, absenteeism, and graduation rates by 2028. The plan ties budget requests to actions – such as funding early childhood programs, raising teacher pay and launching a public progress dashboard.  Delaware Public Media

HEALTH NEWS

  • Leaders from the Department of Health and Social Services and key behavioral health providers gathered Thursday at Dover Behavioral Health System to showcase DTRN360, an innovative platform that connects providers across Delaware, improves care coordination, and supports over 14,000 client care journeys with nearly 600 staff users.  Deleware State Government
  • Legislative leaders unveiled Senate Bill 1 on March 5 in Dover to rebalance health care spending and improve primary care access; the proposal aims to lower premiums and could save over $50M a year (potentially up to $442.7M statewide) while addressing provider shortages.  Deleware State Government
