CULTURE NEWS

  • The Serafins, award-winning chamber musicians (including Grammy winner Miles Brown), are set to perform in Wilmington on Feb. 27 to honor Handel’s 341st birthday and share masterworks from the 1600s to today.  Delaware Online
  • In 2006, community leaders gathered at 11th and Wilson for the unveiling of a state historic marker honoring The Knotty Pine restaurant, a long-time black-owned eatery that served as a refuge during segregation and symbolized unity throughout the city.  Delaware Online

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Delaware Department of Labor’s Office of Occupational & Labor Market Information reported in December 2025 that unemployed workers exceeded available job openings by 4,600, showing ongoing challenges in the job market.  Bay to Bay News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A local 7-year-old became the youngest person to earn a CPR certificate by completing training at Canaan Baptist Church in New Castle on Feb. 21. This milestone shows the church’s commitment to providing valuable community health training.  Delaware Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • DEMA is preparing for a significant winter storm that will bring heavy snow, strong winds & coastal flooding from today to Monday. The state emergency operations center will activate at 5 p.m. Sunday to coordinate travel advisories and safety measures.  Deleware State Government

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Delaware Memorial Bridge will convert to a toll-by-plate system in 2030 when its toll plaza is removed and replaced with an overhead structure featuring sensors and cameras—E-ZPass users will be billed automatically while others receive mailed bills. Maryland drivers already use a cashless system.  Delaware Online

  • Padua's Pandas team of Audrey Burris, Leah Campbell, Vera Cincilla and Mary Drost won their seventh straight 4x800 indoor state title with a time of 9:57.19 at a recent track meet.  Delaware Online
