- ➤ Delaware Children’s Theatre begins family matinees of Charlotte’s Web tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. The stage production, directed by Tom Marshall, runs through Feb. 22 at 1014 Delaware Ave with tickets priced $16 to $18. Delaware LIVE
- ➤ Patti Grimes has stepped aside as executive director at the Freeman Foundation following the appointment of her successor. The board will begin interviews in the spring as the foundation prepares to expand the Freeman Arts Pavilion with a new stage in Selbyville in July. Bay to Bay News

- ➤ University of Delaware President Laura Carlson and lawmakers met on Feb. 5 in Dover to discuss state funding needs after the loss of 41 federal grants and a 19% drop in international enrollment, and she admitted a mistake in removing vital research on slavery & local history. Delaware Online
- ➤ Delaware State Senator Eric Buckson called for a SAT re-evaluation during a Joint Finance Committee hearing on Thursday to explore alternative ways to measure student success. He said the test is mainly for college-bound students and that discussions include options like dual enrollment and work-based learning. WDEL

- ➤ A polar vortex will bring dangerously cold wind chills to Delaware this weekend, following snow showers tonight, with temperatures dropping to single digits in some spots; residents should dress warmly to stay safe. Delaware Online

- ➤ Detective Christopher N. Skrobot of the New Castle County Division of Police passed away on Thursday, Feb. 5 after a long battle with blood cancer.
