- ➤ Wilmington will mark the nation's 250th anniversary with events led by the Wilmington 250 committee — a weeklong Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in August and boxing on Rodney Square in June. Mayor John Carney said the committee looks forward to sharing history and culture with residents. WDEL
- ➤ Wilmington will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence signing with events planned by the Wilmington 250 committee, including a week-long Jazz Festival from Aug. 2 to Aug. 8, a Rumble in Rodney Square boxing match, and a reimagined July 4th Riverfront celebration. - ➤ Registration is open for the 2026 City of Wilmington Spelling Bee to take place at Delaware Technical Community College’s George Campus on Feb. 12 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The contest invites fourth to sixth graders and offers cash prizes for the top three finishers — a fun event during Black History Month. - ➤ After a winter storm that left narrow streets with piles of snow for over a week, Wilmington crews are plowing roads, salting alleys, and will collect trash throughout this week.
