BUSINESS NEWS

  • Multiple auto makers including Hyundai, Toyota, Volkswagen & Kia announced recalls for safety issues such as airbag, software and battery defects; affected owners will receive repair instructions in March from local dealerships if they own models like the Palisade or Tundra.  Delaware Online

CULTURE NEWS

  • Del State alum SZA won two Grammys at the 68th ceremony on Feb. 2 for her work with Kendrick Lamar on the song 'Luther,' though Cher mistakenly credited the award to Luther Vandross, stirring online chatter. This win marks her seventh career Grammy.  Delaware Online
  • Today, Delaware Tourism Office and Delaware Restaurant Association host the premiere of 'Back of House' at Chase Center on the Riverfront—from 4 to 6 p.m.—offering film screenings and tastings that celebrate Delaware’s local food scene.  Delaware Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Matt Meyer announced a $50 million investment to boost Delaware’s early childhood programs and lower child care costs using state & federal funds including an $11.3 million grant. Leaders will discuss the plan at a meeting on Monday, Feb. 23 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Dover.  Deleware State Government
  • West End Neighborhood House opened a new education center Monday on 8th Street in Wilmington. The facility (housed in a former church) includes Seeds of Jesus Daycare, job training sessions, and parenting classes to support low-income, multilingual families with community events and workforce programs.  Delaware Public Media
  • April M. Kloxin was named director of the Delaware Biotechnology Institute on Feb. 1. She will expand collaborations among local universities and industry partners to grow biotechnology research and workforce development in the region.  University of Delaware

  • On Monday, US Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Doug Collins visited Wilmington VA Medical Center, where he honored top-performing staff and outlined plans to improve veterans’ access to mental health, telehealth, and dialysis services.  WDEL
  • Delaware DMV warns drivers about a text message scam that falsely claims unresolved traffic violations require payment. DMV officials urge residents to avoid clicking suspicious links and to verify details by contacting the DMV directly.  DETV
  • Governor Meyer and the Office of Women’s Advancement and Advocacy announced nominations for the 2026 Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame and She’s On Her Way Awards in Wilmington. Delaware residents must submit online nomination forms by 11:59 p.m. ET on April 2, 2026 (forms at de.gov/women).  DETV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Nonprofit EHRI, based at Milford Wellness Village, announced on Jan. 28 that it received a $1.25M grant from the federal Administration on Aging’s Administration on Community Living to expand free senior health education on chronic conditions and will host workshops to reach over 600 Delawareans.  Delaware Online
  • Newark mom Zipporah Washington beat a serious heart tumor and finished nursing school at Lincoln Technical Institute before passing her exam. In remission and honored with the Florence Nightingale Award, she is now seeking nursing work and plans to specialize in pediatrics or oncology.  Delaware Online
