  • Residents gathered at Rockford Park on Jan. 25 to sled down the snowy hills during a winter storm, marking a fun local outing.  Delaware Online

  • Small businesses and startups can attend a webinar at 2 p.m. Jan. 29 to apply for the Encouraging Development, Growth and Expansion Grants — the Delaware Division of Small Business will pick 18 finalists for funding later this year.  Bay to Bay News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Wilmington Drama League gives young writers a stage with workshops, mentorship and festivals to develop and perform original plays. The schedule includes the Ruby Stanley One-Act Festival on Feb. 6–7 and a youth playwriting meeting on Feb. 15 — fueling local talent and creative expression.  Delaware Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jon Sheehan was confirmed as president of the State Board of Education on Jan. 15 and now leads the review of a plan to merge Wilmington schools. The board still needs two members from Kent and Sussex counties to meet state law before it votes on the redistricting proposal.  Spotlight Delaware

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A winter storm swept through Wilmington on Jan. 25, 2026, leaving icy roads and scattered power outages along N. Dupont Street in Trolley Square (a busy neighborhood area). City crews began cleanup and residents were urged to drive slowly.  Delaware Online
